One of a few Christmas specials published privately for P. L. Travers' personal use, the story is about Johnny Delaney, a profane, Irish rebel with the gift of second sight.
Madge Burnand, to whom this copy is inscribed, was introduced to P. L. Travers by the poet and editor of the Irish Statesman, George Russell. They initially shared a rented flat and later (1931) moved to a thatched cottage in Sussex where Travers began to write Mary Poppins in 1933. They were together for ten years.
