Alice Through the Looking-Glass, and What She Found There (Peter Blake Illus)
One of five hundred copies signed and numbered by Peter Blake
Sir Peter Blake
Blue cloth, embossed panel with tipped-in colour inlay
Folio, 30cm x 24cm
First edition, one of only five hundred copies signed and numbered by Peter Blake. Blake's timeless water colour reproduced for the first time in 2004. The eight plates were originally issued as limited edition screen prints in 1970, this is the first time they appear in book form. The publication consists of the full Lewis Carroll story and a 'Behind the Scenes' section in which Peter Blake recounts the story behind the making of the pictures. This section is illustrated by numerous photographs of the original reference material used to make the illustrations. Also included are the original photographs of the main characters taken by Peter Blake. Peter Blake is one of the UK's foremost artists, perhaps the best known example of his work being the cover design for the Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
