When We Were Very Young was published in London on 6 November 1924 and in New York on 20 November; the standard US issue was in red cloth on smaller paper. When We Were Very Young was first published in London 14 days before the US edition. It was the first of the Winnie-the-Pooh books, introducing Christopher Robin and Pooh. This book has the first appearance of Winnie-The-Pooh (as yet unnamed) in the poem, “Teddy Bear” on pp. 85-91. This book is dedicated to Christopher Robin Milne, “or as he prefers to call himself Billy Moon…”
