One of my current favourites in the shop - a lovely copy of the 1st American edition of The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin. Original paper boards with minor chips at head and tail of spine; and 3cm split bottom front of spine which has been professionally restored; neat inscription on verso of title-page ‘A Merry Christmas/ for Nan from Aunt Sarah/ Fairhaven/ 1908’; and including a contemporaneous business card for ‘Colonel and Mrs. F. H. Yate’ with a child’s rather charming, naive drawing in pencil of Squirrel Nutkin signed ‘N.M.’ on the verso. VG++
