A first edition of Beatrix Potter's eighteenth book, and the first title to appear in the "New Series" that was unfortunately issued in a binding almost as fragile as the earlier titles. With date on title-page, colour frontispiece and 14 colour plates, plain title vignette and illustrations in text. Publisher's original grey boards with green titles and decoration to the front and spine and pictorial onlay to the front with rounded spine and pictorial endpapers showing a notice board of 'Peter Rabbit Books' as called for, 93pp(1) with frontispiece and 14 full page colour plates and black and white drawings throughout the text. Small circular 1cm mark on ‘T’ of ‘The’ on front cover; head of spine chipped with minor loss and slightly browned, but overall a VG copy
