Exceedingly scarce 1st edition for continental publication, also known as Tauchnitz edition, boarded in Europe a mere year after the original UK publication in 1892. Two elegantly bound volumes in half leather, marbled paperboards and gilt lettering to their spine. Both volumes bear the bookplate of their previous owner.
Mild signs of shelf wear and foxing on text-block edges and endpapers can be seen in both Vols. Vol.1 shows a closed 2.5cm tear on fore edge side of pp.13.
