Pogany's delightful illustrations present Alice as a definite child of the '20's, including bobbed hair and a mid-thigh length checked skirt, knee sox, and a "sailor" blouse. Prior to introduction is a five-stanza poem by Lewis Carol dated 1867 entitled: Christmas Greetings (From a Fairy to a Child). Signed and dated by Willy Pogany on half-title. Boards slightly marked, ft cover marked with half a cup ring, spine bruised and chipped; internally clean and bright; horizontal 2 inch tear on p.191; splitting along front spine gutter and text block. Ex-libris top left on verso of front board, bookshop sticker on back verso of back board. Generally a VG copy in a lovely d/w which is price-clipped.
